(Junior) Underwriter Property (hybrid, 80-100%)

About the Role

Swiss Re Corporate Solutions has been successfully operating a local branch office in Hoofddorp that serves medium and larger corporates and their brokers in the Benelux. Thereby, we have successfully established a significant property book. It is our intention to continue strengthening our local capabilities and provide underwriting excellence to the Benelux market. We are looking for juniors with strong interpersonal skills, who are curious, open-minded and eager to learn and broaden their knowledge and experience.

Furthermore, you will be responsible for your own portfolio and take care of the day-to-day business. You will be responsible for the analyses and assessment of property submissions in respect of exposure and coverages. You will closely work together with other underwriters within the EMEA Property Team, our local and international teams of Risk engineers and Claims Handlers. In your role you will support identifying and negotiating the best position for Corporate Solutions. With your analytical and critical thinking, you will support the senior Underwriters to develop account strategies to expand our position on current accounts and to cross-sell of other Line of Businesses. You will also contribute to market Corporate Solution's products.

About the Team

As a member of our EMEA Property & Casualty Underwriting community, you will be fully embedded in the BeNelux Property Team and play a significant role in the day-to-day business. The BeNeLux Team consist of 6 experienced Senior Property Underwriters with long track record of dealing with complex deals. You will closely interact with the underwriters and support triaging new businesses and identifying new opportunities. Your development plan will be focusing both on gaining technical knowledge as well as building a network in the market and strong negotiation skills.

About You

The ideal candidate is keen to learn and a strong team player, enjoys the dynamic and fast-paced environment and to grow in our CorSo business. We are open to the level of experience of the candidate.

• University level education

• Insurance experience is an advantage but not a must

• You fluently communicate in both Dutch and English
• Strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
• Proficient digital literacy and ideally an affinity to digital solutions
• Business sense and flexibility, self-managed, entrepreneurial attitude
• Service mindedness for internal and external stakeholders
• Interested in building relationships with clients and brokers and developing new network
• Willingness to travel - mainly within Europe
• A desire to learn and develop as a person and an insurance professional
• Solid communication and presentation skills
