In the MBEG team, based in Sassenheim (NL), a position for a Specialist R&D Microbiology has become available.

Key Responsibilities

Together with the team/project leader you are going to translate general goals into plans, setting up broad experimental designs, and coordinating laboratory activities. This requires you to ensure that all laboratory or field/production environment testing is performed with regard to all technical, legal, HSE and Product Stewardship principles.
You are eager to do practical lab work and execute the experiments with high efficiency, accuracy and under minimum supervision. Afterwards you evaluate and report the results, primarily in English.
You communicate clearly and effectively the key outcomes of the experiments with other parts of the AkzoNobel (R&D) community. Next to this you provide the team/project leader with clear overviews about activities and timing to ensure optimum project planning.
Your work will include both work on short-term troubleshoot issues (including some repetitive work) and on long-term "new" method development. You may lead an assistant (MLO or intern) and act as a back-up the team leader/project leader for defined projects in the long run.
Next to your duties as a specialist, you will support and coordinate the overall working facilities (equipment, materials) of the sub-team or/and sometimes the whole Microbiology department.

• Higher Technical Education in Microbiology (e.g. HLO Microbiology) or equivalent
• Preferably some experience (1-3 years) in a Microbiology laboratory
• Team player
• Highly accurate with good reporting skills
• Excellent communication skills, including fluent in written and spoken English
• Awareness of working across cultures and of the needs of end users
• Able to work and think across functional boundaries
• Can cope with workload and show agility

Applicants with a PhD. will not be considered for this position.
